Praxis Test Fee Waiver

So, you read my post on Praxis test fees or researched on the Praxis website. If you need to take the Praxis Core combined test as well as a subject test, you may be looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 for test registration fees. That is a big chunk of change! If you are worried that you may not be able to afford it, you may be eligible for a Praxis test fee waiver.

Eligibility for a Praxis Test Fee Waiver

According to ETS, the service that administers the Praxis, there are four criteria for receiving a test waiver. You must:

  1. Be currently receiving financial aid
  2. Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (Note: You are ineligible if you have a master’s or a doctoral degree)
  3. Meet eligibility income guidelines (below)
  4. Be required to take a Praxis® test by an authorized score recipient

So, if you are a college student required to take the Praxis test by your program AND you receive financial aid, there is a good chance you qualify. If that describes you, next check the income requirements provided by ETS:

Family Size
(including student)
Maximum Total
Family Income
1 $32,090.58
2 $37,357.74
3 $42,134.58
4 $44,731.62
5 $48,511.98
6 $51,069.42
7 $53,651.70
8 $56,222.10
9 $58,792.50
10 $61,346.70

If you are unsure of your family size (e.g., if you live with your parents or with an unmarried partner), then go by your tax return from the most recent year.
