Many of the NCLEX review courses are expensive and buying all the best books can add up. If you are a student on a budget there are resources out there that can help you study effectively for your exam. Remember that there is no magic course or book that will help you pass the exam. If you put the time and effort into studying you will pass the NCLEX. The following websites all offer free resources to supplement your studying and offer more opportunities with practice questions.
Magoosh NCLEX RN Blog
First of all, the Magoosh NCLEX-RN blog is a great place to start! You’re here right now! We have free tips on all parts of the NCLEX exam as well as advice for nursing school students and new nurses.
Nurse labs is a great site that offers 3500 free NCLEX questions. For each group of quiz questions you have the option of answering in exam mode, practice mode or text mode. Exam mode gives you one minute to answer and rationales are only provided at the end of the quiz. Practice mode has no time limit and rationales are given after you answer each question. Text mode questions and answers are given at the same time to study the information. Quizzes can be specific to an area such as prioritization or dosage questions or a random mix like you will find on the NCLEX.
Easy NCLEX Blog
EasyNCLEX.blogspot.com offers a great review of the content you will need to pass the NCLEX. The website has a breakdown of all the systems you learned in nursing school such as pulmonology and cardiology. Each section gives a comprehensive yet brief review of the most common drugs, diseases and conditions. This is a great site to give a quick refresher and review for what you learned in nursing school. This site does not offer practice questions but will give you a comprehensive review of the content you need to know for the NCLEX.
If Mnemonics and visuals are what you need then check out Nursing School. Mnemonics are easy ways to remember info by making associations with other words or images. This site has lots of great pharmaceutical mnemonics for some of the common medications that will be on the NCLEX. There are also great mnemonics for acid base information as well as med surg basics. It is a great site to give your brain an alternative way to learn the information.
The Mighty Nurse
The Mighty Nurse is a great resource for nursing students. It offers practice quizzes and a weekly contest answering a question. There are also tips for taking the exam and information for students looking beyond the NCLEX with great information about starting out in your career as a nurse.
There are other great resources out there and there are always new things being added online as more students look to the internet for NCLEX resources. Find the resources that will work for you whether it is needing more review on the content or more practice questions.
