Where Can I Find my CAT Result?

Once you’ve taken the CAT, you’ll probably be pretty anxious to see your score results. But how do you get your CAT result? Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about getting your score report for the CAT.

Can you receive your CAT result by email or SMS?

Wouldn’t it be nice to receive your CAT results instantly over the web or on your phone? Unfortunately, as of this writing, the IIM (sponsor of the CAT) has no plans to email or text score results. For the 2016 and 2017 results, this kind of electronic score transmission will probably not be offered.

It is true that test-takers were able to CAT 2015 see results in their web and phone inboxes. However, this was because the CAT website encountered some technical problems early last year. While the portal for CAT results was unavailable, students were offered limited score info via email and phone. (See this short article on Careers360 for details.)

Last year’s CAT result email and SMS reports displayed percentiles but not score details, due to security worries. CAT results are often targeted by hackers. In fact, it appears the CAT score result portal went down in early 2016 specifically because of a hacker attack on the website, as reported by India.com.

Can you receive your CAT result by post?

Like email and SMS, post is a method the IIM avoids for security reasons. The IIM also no longer uses postal mail because post is slow compared to other modern methods of score transmission. Do you really want to wait several extra days to see what your scores are? Probably not.

So, where can I find my CAT results?

OK, I’ve spent enough time telling you where CAT results can’t be found. By now you must be eager to know where you can find those results, right? You can get your CAT results one place and one place only: through the secure CAT score result portal that’s linked to the IIM’s official site for the test.

Once scores are released, access your online scorecard by using the same login you created when you registered to sit the CAT. (See pages 3 through 6 of the IIM’s CAT exam registration guide and video.) The information on the card will be much more complete than the SMS/email messages sent into the previous round of test-takers in early 2016. You’ll get a complete score breakdown as well as your percentiles.
