How to Cancel Your LSAT Scores

cancel lsat scores

It’s possible to cancel to your LSAT scores. Here’s the catch, though: once you take the exam you have exactly 6 calendar days to get it done (or 6 days after receiving your scores, if you have score preview). If you don’t manage to cancel your score, then you’re just out of luck.

So, I’m writing this article with the assumption that you’re just being a sensible person and planning for a situation where you might want to cancel your score. Why might this happen? Well, if you’re aiming for a high enough score to get into one of the top 100 law schools and you don’t feel great about your performance, you may opt to cancel.

If, on the other hand, you’ve already taken the LSAT, and 6 calendar days haven’t passed yet, hurry up and skip to the end of this article. Or, you could just keep going. It’s up to you.

There are two ways to cancel your LSAT scores.

Cancel your score on test day

Have you ever had that feeling when you’ve put in a bunch of time to study for something, you think you’re ready, and then when you sit to take the exam you find out you’re completely unprepared? If you’ve ever been in that situation, and there was a way to get out of taking that exam without getting an incomplete, and then the accompanying bad grade, would you have taken it?

I’m not going to lie. I probably would have taken that if I was given the chance in my undergrad, and in law school. Unfortunately, none of my teachers seemed to agree with that particular way of thinking.

Well, the LSAC does.

It’s right there on the screen. There are even step-by-step instructions. Just follow them and you’ll be fine. Once you cancel your score, you should see “Candidate Cancel” within your LSAC account.

That’s comforting …

Cancel your score after test day

This is the easier, and safer way to cancel your score. If you have score preview, you’ll even get to see your scores before deciding whether to cancel them. All you have to do is log in to your LSAC account, go to the LSAT status page, and then click on the “cancel score” link.

That’s it.

The link goes away after six calendar days (that’s six days after taking the test if you don’t have score preview, and six days after receiving your scores if you do have score preview). if you decide to cancel it after business hours, the LSAC can’t help you. Long story short: if you’re canceling on the last possible day, do it during business hours.

What happens after your score is canceled?

When you apply to law schools, they’ll get a note that you canceled a test score. That doesn’t really matter, in case you were wondering.

You also will not receive a score or a copy of your answer sheet.

That’s it. Hopefully, this gives you enough information to cancel if you need to. If you want more information follow this link.
