GRE Analytical Writing

The GRE essay, or GRE Analytical Writing measure, asks you to write two timed essays. You'll have 30 minutes to accomplish the Analyze an Issue task, during which you'll clearly communicate your own position on a topic using complex arguments. For the 30-minute Analyze an Argument task, you will need to logically evaluate an author's argument, and then support your own argument using evidence. You don't need any prior knowledge of specific topics to do well on these essays, but you will want to review previous GRE prompts to help understand the mechanics of these tasks.
