In the ever changing online world we live in, it can sometimes be hard to keep up with new technology and advances in education due to their continuous development. In a society where education is more online based, it’s important to look at what role traditional teachers play nowadays and how it will continue to develop. In this post, we are going to focus on teachers’ importance and why they are necessary now more than ever.
ABA English recently carried out a panel where some of its teachers got together to discuss the role of a modern day teacher and concluded that teachers are more vital nowadays than ever before.
Teachers’ knowledge isn’t limited to answering questions
As part of the ABA course, teachers don’t give one on one grammar classes but are available to answer their students’ queries and doubts whenever they arise. However, this is not everything, in fact, far from it: teachers have a duty to get to know their students on a personal level to understand exactly what each of their students hopes to achieve and find out what it is that encouraged them to study in the first place. Upon establishing a strong connection with the student, the teacher will have a better understanding of exactly why a student’s thinking is the way it is.
Students can ask their teacher how the tools work
Due to an ever changing society, teachers continue to play an important role as it is up to them to teach the students how to use the tools that are available to them in online portals. Teachers guide their students within the ABA Natural Method, including the LCR Technology. This is vital as it is their job to be up to date with the technology in order to be able to explain how to use it to any students who may be experiencing difficulty with it.
Today’s students need more motivation
Previously, students spent most of their days with a teacher who was there physically to motivate them and encourage them to do their best but with online learning this is not the case. Nowadays, teachers have a more important responsibility than ever before to motivate their students constantly encouraging them to do a little bit more each time and to study when they can. It is paramount for teachers to maintain their level of encouragement because it is so much easier for today’s students to lose motivation and the will to learn.
Students need feedback
Carrying on from teachers having to motivate students, students also have a need for feedback from their teachers to gauge more or less how they are improving if they are not able to judge their own progress very well. Online teachers more than any other teacher have a big responsibility nowadays to assess students’ progress accurately to be able to alert them to areas of the course that they should review in order to keep making progress. As anyone can imagine, this is not an easy task and requires a lot of accuracy further highlighting the important role that these teachers play in society.
Remember their importance
In the modern world it is very easy to get caught up in the manic society we live in, however it is necessary to remember the important roles that our online teachers play in our lives. Unlike traditional teachers they have a greater challenge in getting to know their students and assessing their strengths and weaknesses. Make sure to always take this into account and give your online teacher as much support as they give you.
