Magoosh Comics: The Many Ways to Make a Sentence

Magoosh has shown you how to make a sentence in two posts. Then we showed you how how not to make a sentence, exploring common mistakes with direct, indirect, and prepositional objects.

Now, let’s focus on how you can use object nouns and other grammar forms to make the same sentence in different ways. Below are three cartoon drawings. Each drawing is explained with multiple sentences that say the same thing, but with different grammar. Review the three posts linked above, then study these cartoons carefully.

From there, download this worksheet (Magoosh Sentence Variety Worksheet) and practice writing the same thing in different ways yourself. The activity will help you develop the varied English grammar you need to score well on TOEFL Speaking and Writing.
