International Students at the Top 10 US Universities, 2016

1. Princeton University
2. Harvard University
3. Yale University
4. (tie) University of Chicago
4. (tie) Stanford University
4. (tie) Columbia University
7. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
8. Duke University
9. University of Pennsylvania
10. (tie) Johns Hopkins University
10. (tie) California Institute of Technology
12. (tie) Northwestern University
12. (tie) Dartmouth College
14. Brown University
15. (tie) Washington University in St. Louis
15. (tie) Vanderbilt University
15. (tie) Cornell University
18. (tie) University of Notre Dame
18. (tie) Rice University
20. University of California–Berkeley (go bears!)

Each of these schools provides its students with an excellent education. But, some schools are more diverse than others. Having an international student body can help students learn about other cultures, and fosters differing view points.

In this post, we’ll look at how many international students attend the top 10 universities on this list. 🙂

International Students at the Top 10 Universities in the US, 2016

1. Princeton University — 11% international students

International students make up 11% of Princeton’s 5,244 undergraduates.

2. Harvard University — 12% international students

Harvard’s incoming class (the class of 2019) is comprised of 12.2% international students.

3. Yale University — 19% international students

19% of Yale’s students are international.

4. University of Chicago — 15% international students

International students make up 15% of the University community.

5. Stanford University — 8% international students

8.2% of Stanford’s 7,018 students are from outside of the United States.

6. Columbia University — 17% international students

17% of the undergraduate student body at Columbia is international. 


7. MIT — 9% international students

9.6% of MIT’s undergraduates are international, and a whopping 40% of graduate-level students.

8. Duke University — 14% international students

14% of the class of 2018 is international; 13% of the class of 2017; and 12% of the class of 2016.

9. University of Pennsylvania — 12% international students

12% of the first-year class at Penn is from outside the US, and the incoming class of 2019 has 15% international students.

About 7% of students of JHU’s 6,469 undergraduates are from outside the US.
