I love Pinterest. I use the website to collect ideas for a wide range of things, including teaching-related ideas. There’s a wealth of ideas to choose from, but these are some of the top Pinterest classroom ideas to utilize.
Organization
Organization is key as a teacher. It simplifies things when you can locate the items you need. Pinterest has lots of hacks for teachers, including labeling glass jars or containers with the items within them. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on the containers either. Recycle items around your house, including soup cans or cereal boxes.
Reading Corner
The classroom reading corner should be inviting. Teachers can make a comfortable reading area with rugs, pillows, bean bag chairs, etc. Have containers with books organized by reading level. Also, a container of “book buddies”, or stuffed animals, is a fun addition for younger students.
Classroom Decor
To excite students about upcoming units, consider decorating the room with a theme. Are you learning about fish, colors, or space? Then, use these themes to decorate the room. If you don’t want to decorate the room for an upcoming unit, make the room look fun and appealing to your students in other ideas. Base the décor off of a movie, book, upcoming holiday, place around the world, silly monsters, or something else that you like.
Circle Time
Circle time provides learning opportunities for the group. However, students can become a distraction for each other. To prevent this from happening, buy a rug, get carpet squares, or place dots on the floor. Make sure that these items are spaced far enough apart to give each student enough space.
Hacks

- puff balls glue to whiteboard marker lids to use as erasers
- tape vinyl circles to desks to use as erasable boards
- add Washi tape to old containers for a new look
- write each students’ name on a magnet to place on a board for attendance
- create separate hall passes for the bathroom, office, and other areas of the school.
