With the Internet, there are lots of resources available to help teachers that are just starting out. Isn’t that great?! However, there are so many that it can be difficult to sift through them all to find exactly what you need. Instead of spending hours at your computer (because what teacher has that kind of time), check out these 5 must-have teaching resources that you should bookmark on your computer today.
National Education Association
The National Education Association, or NEA, is the largest professional employee organization in the country. You can join the organization to get more information on education topics and have a voice in important decisions. Not only can you use the website to join the organization, but it also offers lots of lesson plans you can download. Search their lesson plan database by grade level and subject to find exactly what you’re looking for. There are also several articles directed at new teachers. Some of the topics that are covered include effective teaching strategies and classroom management.
Scholastic
I remember ordering books from Scholastic when I was in elementary school. Now as a teacher, you can still order classroom books and magazines at a great price, but the website has so much more to offer. As a new teacher, check out the survival guide with tips, monthly advice, and more. Then, use the website to help you find the following:
- Common Core information,
- Planning calendars,
- Daily starters,
- Lesson plans,
- Graphic organizers, and

Teaching Channel
