As someone who took the MCAT more than once, I had the opportunity to implement many different study methods and use more prep books than I care to remember. With so many MCAT books on the market, it can be difficult to choose the best one. Fortunately for you, I’ve tried most of the popular MCAT prep books out there. In my prep, I found the MCAT Examkrackers books to be some of my favorites. Even though the Examkrackers series wasn’t perfect, it was a staple for me. Here’s why:

MCAT Examkrackers Book Review

  1. Content: All of what you need, none of what you don’t. A chief complaint that a lot of students have when it comes to MCAT prep books is length. A lot of the books available contain a lot of “fluff” that makes it hard to focus on the topics of value. This series boils everything down to the basics. Keep in mind, however, that some students may require a more in-depth presentation of MCAT content. Nonetheless, this series is a great starting point for both non-traditional students and science majors alike.

    1. Readability: Most of us can agree that studying for the MCAT can be boring. This series makes it a little easier to follow along by providing simple, real-world analogies to help explain some of the tougher concepts. For some, this might border on corny, but I found this method to be helpful when I was applying the information to MCAT practice questions.

      1. Price: Pursing a career in medicine is expensive from start to finish. While there are some expenses you can’t avoid (i.e. cost of MCAT or med school applications), how much you spend on MCAT prep books are definitely something that you have control over. Fortunately, Examkrackers has some of the most affordable MCAT books on the market. The price of this series is what initially caught my attention, and for what I received, I think I got a great deal. If you’re cost conscious and need some more great MCAT resources that are also affordable, check out this post.

        Take Home Message

While no MCAT prep books are perfect, I think Examkrackers have found a good formula for providing premeds with the information they need while leaving out a lot of the gimmicks that test prep books are notorious for.
