Numbers aren\u2019t really my thing, and I always assumed if I needed some help with tax issues, I would just hire an accountant to take care of me.<\/p>\n<p>Then I took a basic tax law class in law school and everything changed. I decided that if I ever needed help with tax issues, I would hire a tax attorney instead.<\/p>\n<p>Not to scare anyone away, but that was one of the most confusing classes I took in law school. There were so many terms I\u2019d never heard of before, and the concepts were completely foreign to me (though that was probably due to me being a communications major more than anything else).<\/p>\n<p>But it was also one of the most helpful classes I took. I learned a ton, and afterwards, I was able to do my own taxes and actually understand them. It was quite a turnaround. And that was after just one class.<\/p>\n<p>Tax law is one of those things you either love or you hate. But, if you know it well, it will be useful for a long, long time. Let\u2019s face it, taxes aren\u2019t going away any time soon. It doesn\u2019t matter who gets elected.<\/p>\n<p>With those things in mind, here are some of the best tax law schools in the U.S.<\/p>\n<h2>1. New York University Law School<\/h2>\n<p>NYU Law School has long been one <a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.nyu.edu\/areasofstudy\/tax\">of the best tax programs in the country<\/a>. It\u2019s been around for over 70 years. On top of that, it offers more tax specific classes than any other law school out there. Their law program includes a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.nyu.edu\/tax\/taxpolicyfellowship\">tax policy and fellowship program<\/a>, the student run <a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.nyu.edu\/tax\/taxlawreview\">\u201cTax Law Review,\u201d<\/a> and probably the best <a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.nyu.edu\/tax\">graduate tax law program<\/a> in the country.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Georgetown University Law School<\/h2>\n<p>Georgetown School of Law has a great tax program as well. They offer a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/academics\/academic-programs\/graduate-programs\/degree-programs\/taxation\/joint-jd-llm.cfm\">joint J.D.\/LLM degree<\/a> for students enrolled in any accredited law school around the U.S. They also offer numerous tax classes, and the school has access to prestigious faculty and alumni.<\/p>\n<h2>3. University of Florida Law School<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.ufl.edu\/areas-of-study\/degree-programs\/ll-m-in-taxation\">The University of Florida<\/a> has the honor of offering the first Doctor of Juridical Science in Taxation in the country. They also have a competitive graduate law degree program as well.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Northwestern School of Law<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.northwestern.edu\/academics\/degree-programs\/llms\/tax\/\">Northwestern<\/a> is next. It boasts similar things to the previous law schools. A bunch of taxation classes, really smart and well-connected faculty, and a super competitive program. If you get into Northwestern, you\u2019ll definitely have the opportunity to get a superb education in tax law.<\/p>\n<h2>5. Loyola Marymount Law School<\/h2>\n<p>Loyola is the last school to make this list, and for good reason. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lls.edu\/admissionsaid\/degreeprograms\/jdprograms\/jdtaxllmprogram\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">They have a great program<\/a>, with a dual J.D.\/LLM degree. If you go the route of getting this dual degree, it can be finished in three years, saving you a bunch of money.
