February LSAT: What You Need to Know

The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) has recently announced that they will continue with remote LSAT administrations, given the expressed preference of the majority of test takers, alongside LSAT administrations at a test center. COVID-19 and the Remote LSAT

Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the disruption of the COVID-19 emergency around the globe, as well as the expressed preference of test takers, LSAC has chosen to keep the option to deliver the February 2024 LSAT via the online, remotely proctored LSAT, besides its traditional in-person testing format.

 

February 2024 LSAT Dates and Deadlines

One important thing to note about the February LSAT is that it is late in the application cycle. This means you definitely will not have time to retest, so plan to test earlier if you can—or use the February test as an early test date for the next year’s application cycle.

Primary February LSAT Dates

The primary test dates for February 2024 LSAT are:

• Friday, February 9, 2024

Assistive Technology Request Deadline

• Tuesday, December 26, 2023

If you anticipate any difficulties accessing appropriate computer hardware, an internet connection, or a quiet place to take the remote LSAT, this is the deadline to request assistance from LSAC.

LSAT Registration Deadlines

• Tuesday, December 26, 2023 – Registration and accommodation request deadline

There are limited slots for each testing time, so be sure to register early to get the testing date and time that works best for your schedule.

LSAT Cancellation Deadlines

Even after you register, you can still change your mind about your testing date or time. You can also cancel your registration, or, if you miss the cancellation deadline, you can at least withdraw your registration.

• Tuesday, December 26, 2023– Change your test date or cancel your registration without paying a fee/$222 refund.
• Wednesday, December 27, 2023 through Tuesday, January 2, 2024– Late test date change or registration cancellation; $135 fee/$50 refund.
• Wednesday, January 3, 2024 through Thursday, February 8, 2024– Late test date change or registration cancellation; $222 fee/no refund.

LSAT Score Preview Deadlines

In August of 2020, LSAC began offering an optional Score Preview feature, available for first-time test-takers who want to see their LSAT score before deciding whether to keep it as part of their LSAC transcript and report it to law schools.

The new Score Preview option changes in price* depending on the date test-takers sign up for it by:

• Thursday, February 8, 2024 – Deadline to purchase LSAC’s Score Preview for $45
• Saturday, February 17, 2024 through Monday, February 26, 2024 – Deadline to purchase LSAC’s Score Preview for $75

*First-time test-takers who have an approved LSAT fee waiver can sign up for Score Preview free of charge.

LSAT Score Release Date

The score release date for the February LSAT in 2024 is:

• Wednesday, February 28, 2024

Be sure to create an online account with LSAC—you will be able to view your scores and send them to law schools starting about two weeks after the exam.

LSAT Writing and the February 2024 Remote LSAT

Before you can get your February LSAT score, you’ll need to submit your writing sample online. This doesn’t have to be done at the same time that you take the rest of the exam, but it must be done before LSAC will send your scores to you.

To accommodate test-takers at home, the LSAC is opening up the writing sample (a.k.a. the essay) eight days before the test’s administration.
