The JEE Main exam is an All-India common engineering exam. It’s used for gaining admission into undergraduate level courses in the various NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. This exam must be taken before the JEE Advanced.

If you’re planning to take the JEE Main exam, you need to be sure that you qualify. Knowing the eligibility criteria is important! Any candidate who is found to be ineligible to give the exam at a later stage, will not be granted admission in any of the NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. Also, there will be no refund of application fees. Enough said, now let’s have a look at the eligibility criteria.

JEE Main Eligibility Requirement 1: Age Criteria

You should not be over 25 years old on October 1st of the year you’re taking the JEE Main exam. So you must be born on or after 1st October 1993 if you’re taking the exam in 2018.

However, relaxation of 5 years is granted to students belonging from the SC, ST, or PWD categories. Therefore, SC/ST/PWD candidates should be born on or after 1st October, 1988 to appear for the JEE Main 2018.
