The JEE Main All-India ranks were allotted to candidates in decreasing order of their aggregate scores. However in case of a tie, (i.e., if multiple candidates had the same aggregate score), the following tie-breaker mechanism decided the rank (in the given order):

  • The candidate who had the higher absolute value of the ratio of positive marks to negative marks got a better rank
  • If a tie still persisted, the candidates received the same JEE Main rank
