JEE Advanced cut off marks for inclusion into the common rank list

For inclusion of your name in the JEE Advanced Rank list, you need to score more than a minimum marks decided by the IIT conducting the JEE Advanced exam. These cut off marks are decided on the basis of several factors like the number of available seats, the total number of candidates appearing for the JEE Advanced exam, the difficulty level of the question paper etc.

The JEE Advanced cut off marks for inclusion into the common rank list for the year 2017 are mentioned below:

CategoryMinimum percentage of marks in each subjectMinimum percentage of cumulative marks
General (GEN)10.035.0
Other Backward Caste (OBC)9.031.5
Scheduled Caste (SC)5.017.5
Scheduled Tribe (ST)5.017.5
Persons with Disability (PwD)5.017.5

The scores of a subject in JEE Advanced Paper-1 and Paper-2 are added to acquire the marks of the candidate for that subject and the total marks of the JEE Advanced Paper-1 and Paper-2 are summed up to get the cumulative marks of a candidate.

The JEE Advanced cut off marks for the admission into the IITs will be revealed at the time of the JEE Advanced counseling and are higher than the cut off marks for inclusion into the rank list.

JEE Advanced Rank

You will be given a JEE Advanced Rank only if you appear for both Paper-1 and Paper-2 of JEE Advanced. For calculating the rank, the marks obtained by you in Paper-1 and Paper-2 will be considered cumulatively. If your marks are above the cut off marks for inclusion in the rank list, you will be given a JEE Advanced Rank based on your aggregate marks of the two papers.

If the aggregate marks scored by multiple candidates are equal, then the following tie-breaker mechanism steps, in the given order, will be used for allotting the ranks to the candidates:

  • The candidate who scores higher marks in Mathematics will be given a better rank
  • The candidate who scores higher marks in Physics will be given a better rank
  • If a tie still persists, the candidates will be given the same JEE Advanced Rank

If you qualify in multiple categories, you will be considered in all the categories you belong for the purpose of ranking.

There will not be any waiting list for ranking.
