There are three English verb tenses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>The present tense<\/em><\/strong> describes things that are happening right now or things happening continuously.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>The past tense<\/em><\/strong> describes things that have already happened.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>The future tense<\/em><\/strong> describes things that have not happened yet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The tenses are categorized into <strong><em>four<\/em><\/strong> different forms.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>The simple form<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>The perfect form<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>The continuous form<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>The perfect continuous form<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the tables below, we break down their usage in the <strong><em>affirmative<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>negative<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>question<\/em><\/strong> formats.
