But if you\u2019re a graduated senior starting college in the fall, saving money is critical. Here are four ways to do it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Don&#8217;t buy tons of new school supplies<\/h2>\n<p>While buying shiny, pretty, new school supplies may be one of the only fun parts of the back to school season, don\u2019t waste your money. Odds are you have tons of pencils, pens, and paper lying around your house. Just look. By the time you\u2019re done scavenging around, you\u2019ll probably only have a few things to purchase before you\u2019re ready to go back to class.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Find fun, <em>free<\/em> things to do with friends<\/h2>\n<p>This means no more shopping or going to expensive amusement parks. Brainstorm in order to figure out fun stuff you guys can do that costs little or no money. Here are some ideas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n&#8211; Go on a hike<br \/>\n&#8211; Play card games<br \/>\n&#8211; Bake cookies (or any other baked good of your choice)<br \/>\n&#8211; Take cool photographs<br \/>\n&#8211; <A href=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/hs\/college-admissions\/5-must-watch-college-movies\/\">Watch movies<\/a> at home instead of at the theater<br \/>\n&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/hs\/gen\/volunteercommunity-service-hours\/\">Volunteer<\/a><br \/>\n&#8211; Swim at the community pool<br \/>\n&#8211; Play frisbee at the park<br \/>\n&#8211; Binge-watch a TV series together\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Sell your stuff<\/h2>\n<p>Because it\u2019s summer, you\u2019ll likely have time to deep clean your room. While you\u2019re sorting through all of your junk, figure out if you can sell some of it. You could have a yard sale or even sell clothes to consignment stores. No matter what you do with your stuff, it\u2019s better than leaving it to sit on a shelf with no purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Summer is an especially good time to sell your schoolbooks, as most people already know what courses they are taking next year. Ask kids from the grade below if they\u2019ve purchased their textbooks yet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Don\u2019t drive<\/h2>\n<p>Save money on gas by walking and biking. You\u2019ll not only help the environment, you\u2019ll also get exercise.
