How To Have The Best 2016

A new year means a fresh start! No matter what happened in 2015, there are tons of ways to make 2016 amazing. If you’ll be applying to colleges soon, follow the tips below to have a fun and productive year.

Resolution #1: Read more

Not only is reading fun, it also improves your academic skills. Reading more will help you out, whether you want to get a high score on the SAT or an A in your English class. Don’t give the excuse that you don’t have time to read! Instead of scrolling through Instagram or watching a YouTube video, read a novel.

Resolution #2: Make good relationships with your teachers

Do you have any teachers you particularly like? Make sure to meet with them outside of class to get help. Show them that you’re grateful for their teaching and you enjoy their class. It’s important to build good relationships with teachers, because you’ll definitely need college application recommendations from them. But they can also recommend you for job and internship opportunities, so networking is very important.

Resolution #3: Join a new club

Try something new! It’s good to branch out of your comfort zone. You’ll meet new people, who may become friends. Plus, you’ll have another activity to add to your college application.

Resolution #4: Don’t compare yourself to others

When all of your classmates are focused on college applications and standardized testing, it’s easy to get worried that others are doing better than you are. But there will always be someone with higher grades and more teacher recommendations than you. And that doesn’t mean anything about you personally. Focus on yourself and achieving the best you can.
