Hi there! I’m Elizabeth, Magoosh’s newest SAT/ACT blogger. I’m so excited to be writing for Magoosh and helping students along the nerve-wracking journey to college.
So nice to meet you!
Just so we’re not strangers, let me tell you a little about myself. I was born in Mexico City, and my parents are American and English, so I am a citizen of the US, the UK, and Mexico! We traveled a lot and I still love to go to new places whenever I can. My favorite part of experiencing a new place is the food (I have a policy of trying anything once)! Luckily, I live near Washington, D.C., where there are restaurants from every corner of the world. I also love sipping a hot drink on a cold day, wearing fuzzy socks, and hiking, though not all at the same time.
When I’m not doing any of those, I am a professional tutor, and I am passionate about working with students and helping them get to that “lightbulb moment” in which everything just clicks.
Standardized tests and college applications can make even the best-prepared students quake in their boots. I was there, too, once. I went through the International Baccalaureate program in high school, and can absolutely remember how overwhelming it was to get everything done for classes and then find time to study for the SAT and ACT or to write those dreaded college essays.
I’m here to tell you that it is, however, totally possible to do well in school, get stellar scores on the tests, and knock the socks off admissions officers with your essays. You’ve already taken a great step by deciding to get help with preparing. I promise to do my best to give you the tools and guidance you need to feel confident if you promise to do your best to use them!
