Today is Friday, so it\u2019s time for a little vocabulary game.<\/p>\n

Below are five scrambled words or phrases. Your job is to try and unscramble them to form a GRE vocabulary word. For those Scrabble players out there, let\u2019s see who can get all five in less than 10 minutes!<\/p>\n

  1. The Garlic<\/li>\n
  2. Conical<\/li>\n
  3. Quail Cove<\/li>\n
  4. Coteries<\/li>\n
  5. Apricots (minus the tea)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n

    \nOkay, that last one was hard\u2014I was being cryptic. But let\u2019s start with the first word.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Eating garlic probably won\u2019t make you lethargic<\/strong>, though you may repel a would-be interlocutor. To be lethargic is to lack energy and feel sluggish.<\/li>\n
    2. When it comes to conical sections, many of us are laconic<\/strong>\u2014that is, we don\u2019t have much to say.<\/li>\n
    3. I could tell you where the quail cove is but I don\u2019t quite remember, so my account would be equivocal<\/strong>. Remember, equivocal means vague, sometimes intentionally so.<\/li>\n
    4. A coterie is your posse or entourage. If you have a few coteries, all of which are fond of arcane matters, then you have esoteric<\/strong> coteries.<\/li>\n
    5. Not that I\u2019ve ever taken my tea with apricots, but, in this case, we want to make sure to omit the letter \u2013t, from apricots. That gives us apricos (surely not as tasty), which, when unscrambled, gives us prosaic<\/strong>.
