Just a few days ago you strongly recommended the Manhattan GRE books, but I see you recommend other materials in your 6 month study guide, and did not recommend Manhattan GRE… Please make it clear.
We do recommend the Manhattan series, and it’s listed on the 6 month study guide, under “Supplemental/Optional Materials”. Some other materials are included as well, because different books seem to be more/less helpful to some students depending on their backgrounds.
I totally agree with you – the material from the Big Book is much better. As for Kaplan the Verbal section not relating to the RC is awful. I tell students that they are better off not doing a single question, as the logic and syntax is screwy in many questions (they were clearly written in a very hasty manner).
My only reservation is you would want some practice on the new test format and text completions. Of course you could always just stick to ETS material and you’d do fine!

Hi, Zahid

I hope that helps!

Hi Chris,
I am a working professional with an engineering degree.
I wanted your opinion on using GRE’s Big Book, for practice.
Al though the pattern has changed, The RC and text completion examples are better than Barrons/Kaplan.
I am trying to boost my verbal score.
