means all education following high school level: undergraduate as well as graduate studies.\u00a0 Here, &#8220;in tertiary education&#8221; includes those now enrolled in those programs, as well as all who have completed degrees.\u00a0 Note, also, many of the countries in the table have a high percent of total students in the table, and therefore rank considerably lower in public spending per tertiary student: countries with comparatively few students at the tertiary level rank much higher than the countries listed in the table.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/int-reasoning-table-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-850\" src=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/int-reasoning-table-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"474\" srcset=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/int-reasoning-table-1.png 768w, https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/int-reasoning-table-1-300x185.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/int-reasoning-table-2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-851\" src=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/int-reasoning-table-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"771\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/int-reasoning-table-2.png 771w, https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/int-reasoning-table-2-300x207.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For each of the following questions, select <em>Yes<\/em> if the statement can be shown to be true based on the information in the table.\u00a0 Otherwise, select <em>No<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/Int-reasoning-table-3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-852\" src=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/Int-reasoning-table-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"803\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/Int-reasoning-table-3.png 803w, https:\/\/magoosh.com\/gmat\/files\/2012\/02\/Int-reasoning-table-3-300x75.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 803px) 100vw, 803px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice Question Answers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(1) <strong><em>Yes<\/em><\/strong>; (2) <strong><em>Yes<\/em><\/strong>; (3) <strong><em>No<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice Question Explanations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(1)&#8221;No country with more than a quarter of people over 20 year oldin tertiary programs&#8221; \u2013 so these are all countries on the first table, from Hungary up.\u00a0 Because those are all the top-ranking countries, no country not on the chart can be in this group.<\/p>\n<p>No country in this group &#8220;spends more than $50\/student on tertiary programs&#8221; \u2013 the only country in our table that spends more than $50\/student is Sweden, which has just under a quarter (23%) of people over 20 year oldin tertiary programs.\u00a0 So, no country in the table meets the combined criteria, and no other countries off the table can.\u00a0 Therefore, the answer is <em>Yes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(2) Start with: &#8220;has more than 40% of all people over 20 year old in tertiary programs&#8221; \u2013 these are just three countries: Greece, Belgium, and France.\u00a0 All three of them spend under $40\/student.\u00a0 Therefore, no country meets the combined criteria.\u00a0 Therefore, the answer is <em>Yes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(3) Start with: &#8220;has less than 20% of all people over 20 year old in tertiary programs.&#8221;\u00a0 These are countries that are <em>not<\/em> represented in the table, because they are <em>below<\/em> Slovakia in their percentage of all people over 20 year old in tertiary programs.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t have any information about where those countries fall, but clearly some of them would have to occupy ranks above 51st-place-ranked Sweden in spending per student.\u00a0 Sweden spends $53.50\/student, so 50 countries not on the table spend more than that, and if they are not on the table, they all rank below Slovakia in their percentage of all people over 20 year old in tertiary programs.\u00a0 We actually can&#8217;t give a definitive answer, but we certainly do not have enough information to answer Yes to the question.\u00a0 Because the information is unclear, the answer is <em>No<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following is a Table Analysis practice question, which will be part of the GMAT Data Insights section.
