Originally created by Stan Lee in the 1960s, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Avengers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> have changed a lot over the years, with new characters to help battle evil as one, unstoppable <\/span><b><i>force<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Avengers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> were popular as comic book heroes for decades, they reached a much larger demographic in 2012 when <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Avengers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> movie hit theaters around the world. Though it wasn\u2019t the first movie in the <\/span><b><i>Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, it helped grow the popularity of superhero movies. During its <\/span><b><i>theatrical run<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Avengers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> movie earned over $1.5 billion worldwide, making it the third <\/span><b><i>highest-grossing<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> film at the time of its release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another three years passed before audiences saw more of the superhero team in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Avengers: Age of Ultron<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. In the <\/span><b><i>sequel<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the team accidentally <\/span><b><i>unleashes<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Ultron, a form of <\/span><b><i>artificial intelligence<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that believes it must destroy humanity in order to save the planet. The Avengers work together to try to stop Ultron from succeeding. Even though it didn\u2019t do quite as well as its <\/span><b><i>predecessor<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Avengers: Age of Ultron<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> still made more than $1.4 billion at the <\/span><b><i>box office<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 2018, Marvel Studios released the third <\/span><b><i>installment<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in the series, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Avengers: Infinity War<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. This time, the Avengers must face Thanos, a villain who plans to destroy half of all life in the universe. As one of the most successful of all <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Avengers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> films, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Infinity War<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> earned more than $2 billion, making it the fourth highest-grossing film at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Finally, Marvel released the continuation of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Infinity War<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Avengers: Endgame<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. As expected, the Avengers must either finish their fight with Thanos or allow half of all life to end <\/span><b><i>in an instant<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Endgame<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> was the most profitable of the entire series, earning $2.8 billion worldwide. This made it the current highest-grossing film of all time (as of 2020). More importantly, the dependent clause provides additional information about the object in the independent clause. This is a common sentence structure that is extremely useful in English writing.
