If you’re reading this, then tomorrow is your big day! No, it’s probably not your birthday. If it is though, Happy Birthday!
Tomorrow you have the opportunity to take Regulation, otherwise known as REG. By this point, I know you have your inner tax accountant going strong. Today, we are going to discuss what you should do to help you succeed on the REG CPA Exam tomorrow.
REG CPA Exam Tomorrow: Prepare
When thinking about things you can do to help you succeed on the REG CPA Exam tomorrow, the first thing that comes to mind is eating a healthy, well-balanced meal, especially the morning before. Avoid the donuts and high sugar breakfast snacks. Eating such foods will lead you down the crash and burn plan. Instead, eating an omelet with fruit or a bagel and lox can give you the nutrition needed for a successful test day. BTW, bagel and lox are my favorite 🙂
Today, in an anticipation for tomorrow, you should review the fundamentals, relax, and get plenty of sleep. By reviewing the fundamentals, I mean take a look at your flashcards, mnemonics, sample multiple choice questions, etc. However, by no means should you consider learning brand new material, taking a practice exam, or cramming. Studying for the Uniform CPA Exam is not the 100 meter dash. It is more similar to a marathon. Practice over time will help you succeed. If you strain your brain the day before REG, you are asking for trouble.
Additionally, you will want to consider relaxing and getting enough sleep. Vege out. Watch some House of Cards. Take a walk. Talk with friends. The day before should be reserved for getting you in the mood to succeed tomorrow. If you get all nervous and distracted the day before, you will not be in the right mindset for tomorrow. Moreover, get sleep. When you get enough sleep, you will be mentally sharp. Capture the extra Z’s. Your brain will thank you.
REG CPA Exam Tomorrow: Celebrate
Lastly, think about how you are going to celebrate after REG. Are you going to be the LIFE-O of the party? Are you going to eat some key lime pie? Are you going to jam out to the Backstreet Boys?
Have a plan to reward yourself afterwards. You deserve it! Knowing that you have exciting plans will keep you optimistic and confident during your testing experience. As always, remember to breathe.
