Online CAT Study Material

Online CAT Study Material

In this day and age, online MBA prep is a student’s best friend. It’s so convenient! But where can you find good online CAT study material?

Most CAT Study Material is Online

One important thing to remember is that the majority of CAT prep is available online, rather than in print. The biggest challenge to finding online CAT prep is finding the best online prep among all the web resources out there.

So what are the best CAT prep resources on the web? Read on.

Official CAT Practice Tests Online

The IIM has put two official CAT practice tests on the web, both of which are free. There’s an older “sampler” test that the IIM designed with Prometric. This shorter IIM/Prometric mock CAT is not a full length test. But it does give you many examples of the kind of questions you might see on the CAT. Then there’s the more recent full-length practice test for the IIM CAT. (See my post on mock CAT tests online for links and additional details.)

YouTube and Google

OK, I’ll admit it. These two sources are very general. If you look up CAT prep on Google, or CAT Prep videos on YouTube, how can you know which materials are good?

This, my friend, is why I told you about the official mock CAT tests first. The official web-based practice tests, especially the full-length one, are the best measure of the “real” CAT. When you go through YouTube, Google, or another search engine, look for content that matches up well to the mock tests. And make sure the content is a good fit for the CAT 2017 syllabus.

MBA Coaching Companies

Most MBA coaching companies run on the “traditional” coaching model, providing MBA prep in classrooms. But all of today’s MBA coaching companies have also modernized themselves by providing some CAT prep materials online.

Be a smart consumer when you look for CAT prep on MBA coach websites. Carefully compare the material to the IIM’s own materials and the new CAT syllabus, just as you would with search engine results. (My post on MBA coaching gives you the names of a few companies you can look at first.)
