Where Can I Take the CAT?

where can i take the cat? -magoosh

Students asking “Where can I take the CAT?” don’t need to worry. In 2015, the Indian Institutes of Management offered the CAT exam in 136 cities throughout India. In 2016, this rose to 138 cities.

The CAT is a standardized exam, meaning that each student should have the same test experience and opportunity to do well. If some students had to travel long distances to take the exam, it would put them at a disadvantage. However, the exam may not be offered in your city, so some travel may be necessary. By planning ahead, you can make sure that you maximize your chances for success, traveling in advance if possible.

Several test sites may be offered within each city. While the testmaker has recently offered the CAT in 136 cities, there were multiple centers within each city. In fact, there were more than 650 locations overall, helping to ensure that each candidate wishing to take the test could.

Changes to Exam Locations

Test locations do change from year to year. In 2016, the IIMs added test centers in four cities, while removing them from two. Particularly if the nearest city only has one test center, you may want to have several backup choices in mind if you’re planning to take the CAT in the future, just in case.

Where Can You Take the CAT in 2017?

The IIMs release the full list of test centers in mid-October. In 2016, this was the third week of October. Don’t worry, you will be able to specify your preferred city when registering for the test. However, you might not be assigned your first choice. Overall, it’s a good idea to keep some flexibility when it comes to CAT test locations. Be prepared to travel if necessary. But also know that the testmakers are constantly evaluating exam locations and update the offerings throughout the autumn, so there’s a good chance you’ll be able to take the exam at a location convenient for you.
