There\u2019s a number between 1 and 36 on your page. Here\u2019s the first, and really most important thing to know about that number:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your score on the <a href=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/act\/act-science\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ACT Science<\/a> Test in no way reflects your knowledge of science.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Weird, right? Even if you\u2019re at the top of your game in Biology or Chemistry, ACT Science is a different beast. Interpreting your score, and knowing what to do with it, takes some legwork. Let\u2019s get to it!<\/p>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5551\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5551\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5551 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/act\/files\/2016\/02\/science.png\" alt=\"ACT Science -Magoosh\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/magoosh.com\/act\/files\/2016\/02\/science.png 400w, https:\/\/magoosh.com\/act\/files\/2016\/02\/science-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/magoosh.com\/act\/files\/2016\/02\/science-300x300.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5551\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This little guy might like science, but he has a lot to learn about ACT Science Scores!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><\/center><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">ACT Science Score Basics<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re in a hurry, for example running out the door to take the ACT, here are the three main pieces of information you need to know about ACT Science scores.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Like with all parts of the ACT, there is no penalty to guessing.<\/li>\n<li>To achieve a perfect 36 on the ACT Science Test, you need to answer all 40 questions correctly.<\/li>\n<li>To achieve a 21 (the national average, and cutoff for many states\u2019 lottery scholarships) on the ACT Science Test, you need to answer 22 questions correctly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">What\u2019s in an ACT Science Score?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The makers of the ACT have you covered:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/aap\/pdf\/Using-Your-ACT-Results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Using Your ACT Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here\u2019s breakdown of what the ACT has to say about its system:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your ACT Science score is added to your English, Math, and Reading scores. Divide that number by 4 and you get your composite score.<\/li>\n<li>ACT admits that though it gives specific scores to test-takers, the numbers fall within a range of potential scores. For example, if you earned a 28 on the Science Test, your range is 26-30. Basically that means if you took the test again the next day, you could do a little bit better or worse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">College Ready?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re taking the ACT, you\u2019re probably thinking about going to college. ACT knows that, and has done some research into how ACT scores relate to college success. Here\u2019s what ACT has to say:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/content\/act\/en\/college-and-career-readiness\/benchmarks.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ACT College Readiness Benchmarks<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In a nutshell, a score of 23 on the ACT Science indicates that a student has a pretty good chance of passing a freshman year college science course.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re score\u2019s below 23, there are a few things you can do to raise your score <b>and <\/b>increase your chances of college success. The ACT Science Test is very unique, and getting plenty of exposure to its passage types and questions is the only surefire way to test success.<\/p>\n<p>To improve your chances of college success, think about taking a science course your senior year of high school. Even if it is not required for high school graduation, the colleges you\u2019re considering likely require students to pass some science courses in order to graduate.
